We outsourced a dream wedding... and instantly regretted it
It looked incredible, but something HUGE was missing. This is how we fixed it.
Last summer, we shot one of our all-time favorite weddings.
The couple, the planner, the location, the details, the budget, it was all perfect.
The unfortunate part of this though was that we filmed this wedding in the middle of our busy season.
We made the tough decision to outsource it.
We paid a premium to make sure that it was given the proper attention and care it deserved.
But when we got the film back, we noticed something…
The first 90 seconds had ZERO sound design.
Jake and I immediately started texting each other.
Praising the film itself but just wondering if it would be okay to publish it as is.
After all, each video should be better than your previous.
So we made the decision that we would do all the sound designing ourselves, instead of delaying the delivery of the film any further..
We spent the next 3 hours sound designing those first 90 seconds of the video.
When we had finished and posted it, people started messaging us about it right away.
And their compliments weren’t about the couple, planner, location, or luxury of the event…
The compliments were about the sound design.
The moral of the story?
Sound sets your films apart from the rest.
You can film the most beautiful wedding in the world…
But if your sound design is lazy, it’ll still feel like a highlight reel instead of a film.
You’re leaving money on the table.
We’ve experienced this time and time again.
All our best work that has served as a stepping stone for us have always been sound-driven.
If you want people to feel something when they watch your films…
And you want to get messages like “I don’t even know this couple and I cried”…
Then The Wedding SFX Pack is where you start.
It’s only going to be 20% off until Thursday at 9:00 a.m. MDT
That’s when the next email from us will be, where we are excited to talk about something crazy that happened to us last week at Kinetic.
Talk soon Runaways,
Nate
