The Secrets of a Higher Aperture 📸
Side-by-side comparisons of high aperture shots vs. low aperture shots give us a surprising look at how they affect the sunlight that is captured

CINEMATIC TIP
Higher Aperture For Better Sun Flares
It seems like some sort of sin to push your camera’s aperture past f/5.6, but we are here to challenge you with something new.
Next time you are capturing details at your shoot, crank that aperture up high and see how it changes the way that the sun is captured. You see, at a low aperture (~f/3.5 and below) the sun just looks like a radiant orb. And while it is beautiful, when you adjust your aperture to ~f/11 and above, you get what is called a “sun burst”. Each individual ray starts to pop through, and it is one of our recent favorite things.

ON THE HORIZON
NYC Content Day
In October of 2023, we hosted a 3-day workshop in Salt Lake City, Utah that sold out within a week. This upcoming October, we are hosting a workshop in Ireland that sold out within 72 hours.
But this summer, we are going to host something a little bit different.
Content Days in NYC by Runaway Vows.
No speakers, no merch, no powerpoints, just heading to the streets of New York and capturing content. Both Jake and Nate will be there, as well as Kortney Szuch Peterson to be your personal mentors to help you capture portfolio-worthy content. The word on the street is that @shortstache and @chelstache are going to be the models… But we can neither confirm nor deny that 👀
We are about 2 weeks away from announcing it officially, but we wanted to let you know what’s coming. This is meant to be an affordable alternative for a smaller, more intimate audience than our workshops.
